A PRÁTICA MUSICAL DA BANDA DE MÚSICA “NOVA HARMONIA”, COLARES-PA.

Resumo
Esta pesquisa descreve a prática musical desenvolvida pela banda de música “Nova Harmonia”, da Ilha de
Colares-PA, apontando os saberes sociais e culturais e os caminhos da educação não formal de música na
banda, a partir de uma perspectiva etnomusicológica. Consideramos aqui o estudo da música relacionada à
sociedade que a compõe, o que a música representa em seu contexto e como essa prática musical afeta a
comunidade musical interna e externa. A prática das bandas de música em Colares é centenária, todavia
ainda existem poucas pesquisas disponíveis sobre suas práticas, principalmente de cunho etnográfico.
Investigar como é a prática musical da banda de música Nova Harmonia, de Colares-PA, foi o objetivo
principal desta proposta. Os objetivos específicos foram: Fornecer informações contextualizadas sobre a
cidade de Colares e suas práticas musicais; Descrever o fazer musical da Banda de Música Nova Harmonia
e, averiguar a importância social da Nova Harmonia para o município de Colares. A proposta teve cunho
qualitativo, buscando compreender o ponto de vista dos indivíduos e do grupo sobre as situações que vivem.
É uma Etnografia da Música que considera as maneiras que as pessoas fazem música. Foram realizadas
entrevistas semiestruturadas com os integrantes da banda de música Nova Harmonia e seus colaboradores,
e com moradores/apreciadores da cidade. A realização de gravações da prática musical e os registros
necessários foram feitos no decorrer da pesquisa de campo. A prática musical da Banda Nova Harmonia se
faz presente em grande parte das manifestações existente em Colares, tanto religiosas quanto sociais,
geralmente relacionadas à política, aos esportes e atividades escolares.

Abstract
This research describes the musical practice developed by the music band “Nova Harmonia”, from Ilha de
Colares-PA, pointing out the social and cultural knowledge and the ways of non-formal music education in
the band, from an ethnomusicological perspective. We consider here the study of music related to the
society that composes it, what music represents in its context and how this musical practice affects the
internal and external musical community. The practice of music bands in Colares is centenary, however
there is still little research available on their practices, mainly of an ethnographic nature. Investigating how
is the musical practice of the music band Nova Harmonia, from Colares-PA, was the main objective of this
proposal. The specific objectives were to provide contextualized information about the city of Colares and
its musical practices; to describe the musical work of the Nova Harmonia Music Band and to investigate
the social importance of Nova Harmonia for the municipality of Colares. The proposal had a qualitative
nature, seeking to understand the point of view of individuals and the group on the situations they live. It
is an Ethnography of Music that considers the ways people make music. Semi-structured interviews were
carried out with the members of the music band Nova Harmonia and its collaborators, and with
residents/lovers of the city. Recordings of musical practice and the necessary records were made during the
field research. The musical practice of Nova Harmonia is present in most of the manifestations existing in
Colares, both religious and social, generally related to politics, sports and school activities.
